GRIT is a wild west themed Battle Royale title built in Unreal 4 for the PC by Team Grit LLC. It was a small team, approximately 15 - 20 developers total. I was hired to work on the game pre-release and saw it through its Early Access launch on Steam and subsequent partnership with GALA games and re-launch on the Epic Games Store. It is a classic Battle Royale title that relied on its wide variety of guns, horseback combat and train routes to generate novelty.
The gameplay development had reached a mature point by the time I joined the team. I worked on a variety of projects, such as the lobby system, matchmaking, retooling the game from its Steam integration to the EOS integration as we switched storefronts, control binding, settings and configuration, DLSS integration, Easy Anti-Cheat integration, synchronizing animations between the horse and the rider and improving horse collisions. While my work has historically been on gameplay and UI features, the needs of the project had me working more on services and platform integration.
